Nigerians have been advised to employ the services of estate surveyors and valuers to unlock the wealth they have.

The chairman, Ondo state chapter of the Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, NIESV, Mr Olanrewaju Filani gave the advice on the occasion of this year’s “VALUATION DAY” commemorated on every 5th of may by the institute across the country,

The theme for this year’s VALUATION DAY is “UNLOCKING WEALTH THROUGH VALUATION”

According to Mr Filani, many Nigerians have property capable of making them wealthy but lack the skills to turn them around.

He said “We are telling members of the public that they need valuation to unlock they wealth you have. Some have property but don’t know how to go about it. Some want to mortgage. They need assistance of valuers on what to do. Some property are lying fallow, they need the advice of estate valuers they need feasibility and viability study appraisal to make maximum profit from their assets”

Mr Filani explained that the valuation day was celebrated annually to create awareness on the gains of patronising professional estate surveyors and valuers in the evaluating of their property for maximum profits.

Also speaking, a fellow of the Institution, Mr Dele Adeniyi pointed out that the relevance of Estate Surveyors and Valuers could not be overemphasised as they carried out valuation reports for various purposes.

According to him “the implications of not making use of Estate Surveyors and Valuers are multifarious, for instance we are the custodian of land, we take care of everything on land, anybody that wants to obtain loan in the bank will require the valuation report of the property he’s going to use as mortgage, that’s why banks patronise us”

Adeniyi continued ” We carry out valuation reports for various purposes, for insurance  for sales, for purchases , everything on land because without land, no one can survive”

Mr Adeniyi enjoined people to ensure that they patronise registered estate surveyors and valuers whom he described as people of high integrity.

As part of activities marking the day, members of the institution paid a courtesy visit on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and were received by his Chief of staff , Chief Olugbenga Ale.

During the visit, the Chairman, Mr Filani briefed the governor on the activities of the institution and the essence of commemorating the Annual Valuation day.
