The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has expressed its determination to prosecute institutions of higher learning involved in the mobilization of unqualified graduates for National Service.
The Director General of the NYSC, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim gave the indication during a meeting between the Scheme and Registrars of Corps producing Institutions in Abuja.
The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC had continued to complain of the quality of persons sometimes sent for mobilization by Corps producing Institutions.
This time around, the scheme is threatening to ensure the Prosecution of any institution found culpable.
The Director General of NYSC, Major General Ibrahim pointed out that gaps had been identified which warranted the meeting with Registrars.
General Ibrahim also urged Nigerians to support the establishment of NYSC trust fund to adequately empower corps members with skills.
The Registrar of Joint Admission And Matriculation Board, JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede alleged that about one million persons were admitted illegally from 2017 to 2021, mostly from States and Private Institutions.
Professor Oloyede advised NYSC to always mobilize corps members from JAMB introduced Central Admission Processing System, CAPS.
The Director Corps Mobilization, Mrs. Victoria Ango stressed that the appointment of Registrars should not be based on sentiment but by merit.
Some of the Registrars pledged to do their best in ensuring that only qualified graduates were mobilized for national service.
