Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu has been declared winner of the Lagos State APC Governorship Primary Election with 1,117 votes.

The Governor was the only aspirant cleared for the party election which was held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan, amidst tight security under the watch of the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Voting by delegates commenced around two o’clock in the afternoon.

In his remarks after the exercise, the Chairman of the five-man committee, Alhaji Adamu Yuguda, said that one thousand and one hundred and ninety-eight delegates were accredited out of one thousand two hundred and twenty-five ad hoc delegates expected to be at the venue.

Alhaji Yuguda who confirmed that three persons bought the forms, clarified that the other two aspirants were not cleared.

On his part, Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi commended delegates for comporting themselves in an orderly manner and expressed optimism that the party would remain united after the primary to continue to win elections in the state.

 

Similarly, Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum has been re-elected as the sole gubernatorial candidate for the All Progressives Congress APC in the state.

Declaring the results at Elkanemi Sports Centre Maiduguri, Chairman of the Gubernatorial election committee, Alhaji Uba Maigari said Professor Zulum garnered One thousand, four hundred and eleven votes to emerge as candidate of the governorship primaries ahead of 2023 general elections.

According to the Chairman electoral Committee, 1560 were registered for the primaries, 1422 delegates from twenty seven local governments have been accredited while one thousand four hundred and eleven casted their ballots.

“Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has scored 1,411 to become the sole gubernatorial candidate for APC in Borno state having recorded the highest number of votes” Maigari said.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Zulum thanked the delegates and leadership of APC for re-electing him as flag bearer for the party.

He stressed the need for unity among party stakeholders to accelerate growth and development of the state which has suffered alot of devastation due to insurgency.

He promised to hasten the reconstrution and resettlement of displaced persons back to their communities.
