Over one hundred journalists from different media houses in Ondo state have benefitted from the medical check up organised by the state chapter of the Nigerian Union Of Journalists, NUJ under the chairmanship of Prince Leke Adegbite.

During the exercise, the members had their  blood pressure, blood sugar level checked while hepatitis test was also carried out on them.

Some of the journalists who spoke to Positive fm ,Messrs Babatope Okeowo, Ayo Falana, Olorunfemi Odofin, Segun Falomo, Bola Ojuwo commended the  NUJ for making medical checkup accessible to the members considering their busy schedules.

They urged the leadership of the NUJ to make the exercise a regular one to help members against untimely death

Responding, the NUJ chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite said the purpose of the medical outreach was to help members to know the state of their health and to also take care of their health.

Prince Adegbite promised that NuJ would continue to prioritize the welfare of members for optimal productivity.

Also,  the Director of medical laboratory scientist ,Ondo state primary health care development Agency, Israel Adeyemi said that the partnership between NUJ and Primary health care development Agency was to fulfil government agenda of making health facilities accessible to people.

Mr Adeyemi urged other associations and organisations in the state to emulate the gesture of NuJ and organise medical checkup for their members.
