A socio-political group fighting for the cause of the Yoruba race has condemned, in strong terms, the mindless attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State and the mindless killing of some of the congregation who were worshiping at the church.
Prince Diran Iyantan, the Chairman of the group, was extremely saddened after seeing the footages of the gruesome killing of slain children and women in their pool of blood and hearing the news of the purported kidnap of a priest at the church. Prince Iyantan opined that it was an attack too many, but that occurrences like that must be stopped in the Southwest.
“The major concern is to ensure the survival of those injured in the reckless attack by providing for their adequate medical care and follow-up on post trauma experience that many of them will suffer later, especially, the children who survived the killing ”.
Iyantan sympathized with the victims of the church shooting and prayed for the reposed of their soul and forgiveness of their sins as they all died in the service and worship of our Lord, the almighty God.
Prince Diran Iyantan emphasised that all hands must be on deck to ensure that all the perpetrators of this hideous killing do not go unpunished. He calls on all the security apparatus in the country to go after the murderers and ensured they are brought to justice for their callous behavior.
Iyantan sympathizes with the governor and the people of Ondo State over the loss. He commended the governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for acting swiftly by returning to the State from Abuja where he has gone for the national convention of APC when the incident occurred.
“Akeredolu is a great leader who is very conscious of the welfare and security of his people. If for any reason, this action was carried out so as to deter him of his act of security consciousness in the State, as Ondo State is known to be a very secured and peaceful haven to do business, live and sleep with your two eyes closed”.
“These murderers have failed as this will only resolved it in the governor to be more determined in his fight against bandits, criminals, and all forms of terrorism in the state’’.
Prince Diran Iyantan, commended the Vice President, professor Yemi Osibajo for his visit, some state governors, political leaders and others who visited Owo to sympathize with the victims families and those injured in the shooting. He noted, particularly, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for coming to Ondo State from the APC convention in Abuja where he is a leading aspirant for the presidential ticket of the party. He praised Asiwaju’s generous donation of seventy five millions Naira to the victims families and the church that it will serve as a kind of succour to them in moving forward from this ugly and unwarranted experience.
