…As NAPTAN Honours Governor’s wife…..

Wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs Betty Anyawu Akeredolu says she will not relent in her pursuit for a better life for women and Girls.

Mrs Akeredolu made the pledge while receiving award of role model in girl child development, conferred on her by the National Association of Parents Teachers Association Of Nigeria, NAPTAN, Ondo State Chapter.

She lamented some of the ill treatments melted out to women in Africa stating that the girl child must be trained right childhood to change the narrative.

“The mention of girl child strikes a chord with me. It is, for me, a subject of special touch and significance. And of the many duties that I find delight in doing, I derive specIal pleasure from working in favour of the girl child.
This has been a constant feeling and life long commitment that I keep on the front burner. It is a cause that I am irrevocably dedicated to, for compelling reasons” Akeredolu said

Mrs Akeredolu who appreciated organisers of the award for recognising the present administration’s contributions to the overall development of women and girls announced that over two thousand girls had been trained in various skills in the state.

She noted “the present situation of the girl child in Nigeria shows that we are still far off from the point where we can say all is well. Thus, we must consciously update efforts in developing the girl Chlld.”

In an address of Welcome, the National Vice President, PTA, Alhaji Abimbola Omolola who described Education as the bedrock of development appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to assist the association in some key areas.

Other recipients of the NAPTAN Award included Olowo of Owo kingdom, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye and the Olowa of Igbara Oke, Oba Adefarakanmi Agbede
