As part of measures to further strengthen security of lives and property of residents , Ondo state government has commenced registration of commercial motorcycles popularly called Okada in all the eighteen council areas.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on strategy and special duties, Dr. Doyin Odebowale announced this in Akure.

Dr Odebowale emphasized on the need for a new registration after the one started in 2018 based on the need to address influx of motorcyclists into the state and as well check the rate of crime allegedly perpetrated on a daily basis by okada riders.

He explained that the biometric registration would cover use of jackets , tickets and color code for each senatorial district for proper identification at the cost of two thousand five hundred naira .

Dr Odebowale also added that all motorcycles without number plates would be impounded.
