National President, Nigerian Association of female Journalist NAWOJ, Ladi Bala has Called on Nigerians to vote into power politicians who they believe have the interest of the country at heart as the 2023 general election drawers nearer.

Mrs Bala gave the advice at the opening of NAWOJ National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting, held in Asaba, Delta State.

She also stressed the need for journalists not to engage in praise singing of politicians but put ensure that they served the masses and alleviate their sufferings.

The NAWOJ Chairperson who said the association would continue to protect the right of women and the girl child enjoined women journalists to help change the current narratives of all form of abuse against women for a better society.

While appreciating Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for supporting Women Journalists in Delta state, Mrs Bala also hailed the executive members for making themselves available for the meeting.

In a goodwill message, NUJ Chairman, Delta State Council, Mr Mike Ikogu Charged women Journalists to work towards occupying positions of authority as women had the capacity to effect positive changes in the society.

Mr Ikogu urged members of NAWOJ in Delta State to ensure a Rancour free election as they prepared to choose a new leadership.

NAWOJ Chairperson, Delta state chapter, Patricia Gbemudu while welcoming all the national executive officers to the state posited that women must always strive to achieve the development of the girl child.

In a keynote message on the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding and the role of journalist, a medical expert, Dr James Oloyede said breastfeeding prevented mortality among children and also make them grow well.

The NAWOJ NEC Meeting was attended by all national officers, state chairpersons and their secretaries

Meanwhile, the chairperson of Ondo NAWOJ, Mrs Doris Olumoko was reinducted into the NEC having won a re-election while the secretary, Mrs Oluwatosin Ighoteguono was inducted into the NEC for the first time.
