The independent National Electoral Commision has declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party the winner of the Osun state Governorship election.

Adeleke polled 403,371 to beat his closest rival, incumbent governor of Osun state, Adegboya Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress who had 375,027.

While Adeleke won 17 out of the 30 local governments in the state, Oyetola won in 13 local governments.

Returning officer for the election and vice chancellor of university of Lagos, Professor Toyin Ogundipe announced the winner of the election after the collation of the results in Osogbo, the state capital.
