President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the gallant display of Nigeria’s Super Falcons against the Moroccan female national football team in the second semi-finals of the African Women’s Cup of Nations.

The President notes that although many will be disappointed with the Moroccan victory on penalties, there are many positive outcomes for the Nigerian team to take home and prepare better for the next tournament.

According to statement, President Buhari is encouraged by the doggedness, resilience, and professionalism of the girls who, despite playing with two players down before a home crowd, showed their quality and class.

The President believes that great things are expected from the team, and like all Nigerians, he will be cheering them on at future outings.

In the same vein, minister of Youth and Sport Development,Mr Sunday Dare has praised the gallant and spirited play of Nigeria’s Super Falcons Team after its game against host nation Morocco Female Team in the second Semi Final of the ongoing African Women’s Cup of Nation.

Mr Dare said their resilience, character and management of the game during the match against Morocco in front of Forty Five thousand capacity crowd must be commended.

He noted that despite the team losing the semi final ,they are worthy champions and Nigeria is proud of them.

The Nine times African Champions, Nigeria Super Falcon’s bowed out gallantly with pride ,losing Four-Five on penalties to Morocco, after playing majority of the encounter with Nine players as Midfielder Halimat Ayinde and Striker Rasheedat Ajibade were shown a red card for clumsy tackles.

The Super Falcons will battle She-polopolo of Zambia on Friday,July 22nd in the third place match of the tournament while host nation Morocco battles Banyana Banyan of South Africa in the final of the competition on Saturday,July 23rd.
