A 64 year old woman identified as Mrs Tunmise Oluyemi has been found dead in her farm at Fadahunsi area, Ilesa with both eyes plucked by suspected ritualists.
Neighbours and family launched a search party for Mrs Oluyemi on Monday after her family declared her missing.
A neighbour who craved anonymity told Radio Nigeria that family of the deceased became worried when she failed to return to her apartment located at Fadahunsi community, Ilesa, having left home since Saturday morning.
According to the neighbour, the deceased’s co-tenants became suspicious because the door to her room remained locked for two days, which was unusual.
She stated that on inquiry, members of the search party discovered that some firewoods and vegetables gathered by the victim were still by the road side where she kept them and decided to comb the area.
After ten minutes of searching, the victim’s decomposing body with the both eyes plucked out was found beside a tree and that attention of the police at Ijamo B’ Division was called to the development.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer , Osun state police command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident, saying the police went for evacuation of the corpse for investigation, but her children prevented them from taking her to the morgue, claiming that they wanted to bury her immediately
