The village of Tarai, in Kibiya local government area has been thrown into deep sorrow, following the death of Umar Abubakar, Aliyu Abubakar and their sister Aisha Abubakar.
The siblings aged 4,5 and 7 lost their lives on Sunday, when their mother’s room collapsed after two days of heavy rainfall.
Speaking to newsmen during a condolence visit by kano state emergency management agency (SEMA), father of the deceased Malam Abubakar Usman described the incident as unfortunate.
He explained that, he received a call from a relative informing him of the demise of his three biological children as he was out of town on a business trip
On the 17th day i received a call at 6:am that one of the rooms in my house has collapsed and led to the death of all my three children ”
Also speaking the chairman of Kibiya local government area, Alhaji Alkasim Abdullahi Shike commended SEMA and Kano state government for the timely intervention and donation of relief materials.
He maintained that immediately after the incident, Kibiya local government council condoled and provided the necessary assistance to Malam Abubakar’s family.
“We are appealing to the people to take note of all that will lead to this kind of disaster”
Dr. Saleh Aliyu Jili is the executive secretary of Kano state emergency management agency (SEMA), who led a strong delegation to Kibiya, stressed that, governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is deeply saddened with the death of the young children.
He noted that the agency would compile a comprehensive report for onward submission to the state government for proper action.
The Executive Secretary said, Kano state government was committed to the safety of lives and properties of it’s citizens. Saying that the agency had provided mattress, pillows, food items, and building materials to the deceased family .
“We advise the public to desist from building on water ways”
The district head of Kibiya who doubles as Sarkin shanun Rano Alhaji Abubakar Sunusi Ila (autan bawo), who was part of the delegation prayed for the repose of Fatima,Abubakar and Umar’s souls.
