Critical organs of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP are to meet today in Abuja, the nation’s capital to among other issues, decide the fate of the party’s embattled national Chairman Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, who has been locked in a political war with a group of governors led by the Rivers state governor, Mr. Nyesome Wike.
The PDP has been enmeshed in internal crisis since the emergence of former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2023 Elections, with the Rivers state governor, Mr. Nyesome Wike leading the call for the resignation of the PDP national chairman.
On Wednesday, the party’s National Caucus met at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro as part of the talks to resolve the lingering issues ahead of the commencement of campaigns for the 2023 elections.
Those who attended the meeting included the party’s presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku who fell out with rivers state Governor Mr. Nyesome Wike after the presidential primary election which was characterized by high level intrigues that led to the last minute loss of Mr. Wike.
Earlier, the National working committee of the party met behind closed doors.
Today’s meeting include that of the
Board of Trustees, BoT and the National Executive Committee NEC, the highest organ of the part that is to ratify whatever decision is arrived at.
