The annual Ondo State All Stars football league, 2022 kicked off on Friday at the Ondo State sport complex in Akure.

Former Ondo State Deputy Governor, Ambassador Omolade Oluwateru kicked the first pass to open the match between defending champion, Ekimokun All Stars and Akure Veterans.

Before the kick off game, Ambassador Oluwateru described the round leather game as a unifying and that it should translate into more unifying factor among veteran footballers in the state.

He charged participating teams to be guided by the rules of the game.

Earlier the head of the committee for this year’s event, Mr. Akin Akindele said the annual event was organized to help the ex-football stars keep fit always and also keep in touch with the game they love most.

Also speaking at the event, the president of Ondo State All Stars, an ex-international Mr. Kayode Emmanuel said the annual game was a unifying competition among the veterans and the upcoming football stars.

The Opening match ended with Ekimokun All Stars defeating the Akure Veteran All Stars in a 2-0 win.

Eight teams that participated in this year’s event are: the defending champion Ekimogun All Stars, Akure Veteran All Stars, Ijapo Ages All Stars, Lawyers NBA All Stars, Ondo State All Stars, Ministry of Health All Stars, Alagbaka United All Stars, Golden Tosrich All Stars.
