It was an amazing sight to behold as members of Apostolic High School Ilara Mokin Old students association kitted in the school uniforms and bags joined the current students to observe the morning assembly as part of events marking the 50th anniversary of the school.
The morning Assembly was anchored by the Chairman, Anniversary committee, Dr Adedayo Afe, the school’s first senior girl, Mrs Eniola Jayeola and the speaker house of assembly, Bamidele Oleyeloogun.
The old students while inspecting the Students ‘ uniforms advised them to be academically and morally sound for a better future
Delivering a lecture titled, “Alumni association as “midwives” of sustainable educational development in Nigeria,” Dr Afe who is also an associate professor at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko described Alumni as inevitable key to achieving more development in every institution of learning.
He cited lack of data base and failure of institutions to reach out to their Alumni as major impediments and encouraged school principals to register all graduating Students from their schools for future references.
The Chairman on the occasion, and one of the pioneer principals, Bashorun Sehinde Arogbofa expressed joy at the old Students achievements and called on teachers to instill discipline in students for better society.
There was also the inter-house sports at Elizade University sports complex which featured invited schools relay competitions, novelty match between the Apostolic high school and Community comprehensive high school Ilaramokin .
The fiftieth anniversary of the Apostolic High School Ilara Mokin will be rounded off with a grand finale on Friday , 30th September , 2022 with the inauguration of building projects executed by the old students association which will be performed by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, free health services and annual general meeting with election of new officers for the old students body.
