Former Head Of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar has called for the recruitment of additional security personnels to effectively tackle the problem of insurgency bedevilling Nigeria.
The former Head Of State made the call while addressing Newsmen in Minna Niger on the sixty second anniversary of Nigeria.
General Abdulsalami Abubakar said this had become imperative because security personnel had been overstretched and hence the need for the recruitment of more security forces for maximum benefits.
He also stressed the need for the provision of necessary equipment for security personnel to enable them discharge their duties effectively while calling on Nigerians to provide them with useful security information that will assist in improving security system.
On the lifting of ban on presidential campaigns by INEC the father of modern democracy expressed sadness that some electorates are still selling their votes while to his dismay politicians are also encouging the negative act and called for a change of attitude to overcome such challenges.
General Abdulsalami Abubakar who warned politicians against campaign on columny and abuses would wants them to engage in campaign of tolerance to achieve a hitch free twenty twenty three general elections.
While reacting to question on restructuring the former Head of State maintained that though members of National State Houses of Assemblies have a vital role to play on this matter but however said equity justice and fairness are what is needed in Nigeria.
General Abdulsalami Abubakar expressed optimism that the problem between the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU would be a thing of the past soon.
