Over 900 youths in ondo state have been engaged this year in various farming activities in an empowerment and poverty alleviation program of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD

The Ondo State Coordinating Officer , Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises Niger Delta, LIFE-ND project , Prince Ademola Olawale made this known in Akure during a roundtable conference with newsmen.

Prince Olawale stated that the project was focused on engaging youths in agricultural activities to tackle youths unemployment and as a way of checking restiveness in the Niger Delta region.

He encouraged Youths in the Niger Delta states to take advantage of the IFAD program to improve their lives.

Also speaking, rural institution gender and youths officer for IFAD in ondo state, Mrs Bola Ajibade explained that the media parley was aimed at making the activities of the agency known to the public and to serve as a feedback mechanism which the Agency would work on.

Mrs Ajibade disclosed that IFAD had been engaging the vulnerable and the unemployed in the value chain areas of maize, cassava, poultry, fishery and Cocoa productions in ten council areas of Ondo State covering ten communities in each council area.
