After the purported plot to remove him was aborted, the Chief Imam of Ikare-Akoko, Sheikh Abbas Abubakar has led the weekly Jumat service at the town’s Central Mosque, calling on all indigenes both Muslims and Christians to embrace love and unity for the overall progress of the community.
In his sermon while leading the prayer amidst tight security, Sheikh Abbas Abubakar expressed concern over the the level of unnecessary disagreements among the residents especially Muslim faithful.
The Chief Imam appealed to all and sundry in Ikare to give peace a chance for the town to regain its lost glory, noting that without peaceful coexistence development could not take place.
The Islamic cleric also advised all religious leaders and youths in Ikare to embark on fervent prayers for the peace tranquility of the town, Ondo State and Nigeria in general.
Imam Abubakar used the jumat service to commend Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s efforts at ensuring security of lives and property in the state and the Southwest region.
