Every 15th of October is set aside by the United Nations to commemorate the international white-cane day.

The white mobility cane is used by persons with visual impairment across the globe to navigate their ways independently.

Celebrating the international white cane day in Owo , the Nigeria Association of the Blind , Ondo State chapter organised a road show to sensitize the public on the importance of the cane.

During a visit to Olowo palace ,the Chairman of the association , Mr Ojo Akilo applauded the monarch and the
people of Owo for their cooperation and accommodation.

He however asked that the residents be sensitised more on the capabilities of persons with disabilities.

Responding on behalf of Olowo High Chief Alade Aladeseye expressed continued support of the monarch to the well-being of persons with disability.

A thanksgiving service marking the international white-cane day was held at St Andrew Anglican Church Owo on Sunday 16th of October 2022.

Meanwhile , the unveiling of the blind soccer game , a special football meant for people with Visual Impairment will take place on Tuesday 18th of October 2022 at the Ondo State Sport Complex Akure at noon.
