In a bid to further solidify the already reached peace accord initiated few weeks ago to ensure the full integration of everyone including those seems to have broken away from party’s activities in recent times, the candidates of the party for next year’s elections have met with some critical stakeholders within the party yesterday Sunday, 23rd October, 2022 with a view to finally laying to rest insinuations causing disaffection and disunity amongst members in order to unify for the challenges ahead.

 

The meeting which was moderated by prince Tony Ala under the supervision of the Akure South party’s Chairman, Mr Oladimeji Busuyi, had in attendance leaders from various wards as well as Candidates vying for different elective positions centred mainly on how the party would remain an indivisible entity as we approach the 2023 elections, noting that, only in total unity can we deliver our party and it’s candidates for overwhelming victory.

 

Prince Tony Ala on behalf of the attendees welcomed our candidates including Chief Ifedayo Adedipe SAN, Ondo Central Senatorial district, Princess Kemisola Adesanya, Akure North/South Federal Constituency as well as Akure South Constituency 1&2 house of Assembly candidates, Mr Jide Oguntodu & Mr Adeniran Adeolu respectively to the meeting, saying the meeting is a follow up to the series of meetings called most especially the recent stakeholders meeting held at the State Party Secretariat where we were admonished to sue for peace in the interest of the party.

 

He also reiterated his commitment to peace and unity in the party and urged members to follow suit saying the only way to relevance individually or collectively is to ensure victory for our candidates at every level, appealing to those who may still be nurturing grievances or bitterness to sheath their swords and return back to their various political wards for proper harmonization, integration and more inclusiveness.

 

Addressing the gathering, Princess Kemisola Adesanya, appealed to members to join hands with her in order to return PDP back to power in Akure North & South Federal Constituency.

She maintained that, all the allegations levelled against her in the past, even till now were untrue, as she had in no time worked against the party during the February bye-election or aligning/teaming with the South against Akure’s interest and said those spreading such rumours are enemies of progress and urged such group of people desist forthwith.

She later begged for forgiveness from those she might have offended in one way or the other, as she have also reciprocated same to those who offended her.

 

In the same vein, Basorun of Akure Kingdom, Chief Ifedayo Adedipe SAN, emphasized on unity, harmony and peace as necessary tools for our collective success. He echoed in a louder voice that, he has never relented in his efforts towards ensuring Akure attain it’s rightful place politically and otherwise, he stressing further that, we must work together a as individuals in order to deliver resoundingly for our party at all stages of elections, as our performance in the forthcoming elections would determine how ready we are for the main battle ahead; we all need one and other to achieve electoral success because going into an election of this magnitude with our house divided would have grave consequences, he said.

 

In the same vein, the attendees in their large numbers affirmed their unalloyed loyalty, dedication and commitment to the aspirations of those already picked as party’s candidates regardless of their earlier interests. Speaking in this direction on behalf of members were, Chief Mrs Stella Oluwatuyi, Hon. Soji Majagbe, Mrs Asekere Adeoti and Mr Ajayi Olorunlogbo; who all echoed their resolve to work in the interest of the party and align to the submissions of party stakeholders who have used their precious time talking to them, since the needful has been done we have no other choice than to go back to our different ward and ensure victories for all our candidates.

 

In a way to avoid further polarisation in the party, the meeting caution those who do not have mush political relevance or influence at their localty but are fond of coming on social media to create unending crisis for the party in order to Impress their paymaster to desist henceforth. Our activities on social media should be issue-based, reflect on the agenda of the party which is mainly to project, promote and propagate its candidates and their programs for the electorates and not to cause more damage; the party would not hesitate to take desivie actions against anyone flouting this directive.

 

Also in attendace were, Hon. Afolabi Akinbowale, Comrd. Gbenga Jegede, Mr Dele Faboro, Alh. Ganiyu Ogbera, Chief Mrs Funmilola Oluwadare, Mr layo faloun, Mr Tayo Egunjobi, Dr. S F Omomo, Mrs Kokumo Oredipe, some local government Excos, Ward Chairmen among others.
