Two prominent Oyo State monarchs, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun Alli Okunmade II and the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao have called on religious leaders across the country to intensify prayers on the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
They made the call in Ibadan when the Olubadan, Oba Balogun received by the Spiritual Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church (C&S) Movement Worldwide (Ayo Ni o), Baba Aladura, Prophet Samuel Adefila Abidoye as part of the programmes ushering in the 2022 Annual Convention, holding at the Movement’s camp ground (Galilee) at Orile-Igbon.
In a press statement made available to journalists in Ibadan by Oladele Ogunsola, the Personal Assistant (Media) to Olubadan, Oba Balogun profusely thanked the C&S Movement, (Ayo Ni o) leadership for the visit and enjoined the Church to intercede for the country on the general elections holding next year, stressing that “the elections mean very much to the country and would go a very long way to shape the future of the country either for better or for worse”.
He was also full of appreciation to his brother Oba, Olugbon of Orile-Igbon for accompanying the Church leadership to his palace, a move described as sincere and genuine support for the Church and its camp site located in his domain. Oba Balogun urged Oba Alao to continue to give the Church all the necessary support that would allow the work of God to be properly done, adding, “by ensuring the Church’s well being in your domain, you are attracting supernatural blessings in manifold to the land and your people”.
Olugbon in his remark also spoke in the same vein with Oba Balogun on the 2023 general elections, describing the exercise as an opportunity to reshape the country’s destiny. “We all know and we can all see that all is not well with our country in virtually every area and the elections present a very good opportunity to make decision that can halt the dangerous trend and put it on the right track.
“It is in a bid to achieve this very crucial desire that I join Kabiyesi Olubadan to covet your prayers because it is said in the Bible that there’s nothing we can get on earth without such being released to us by our heavenly father. So, our desire for peaceful election and right choice of leaders can only be attained by heavenly sanction. At your Convention, help our country with fervent prayers on this our request and by the grace of God, our prayers would be answered”, the monarch added.
In his short remark, Prophet Abidoye, a Centurion said the purpose of the visit, the first by the Church since Olubadan ascended the throne last March was to identify with him as the monarch under whose watch the capital city of the state where the camp site of his Church is situated and principally to pray for him for longevity in good health and prosperity for Ibadanland which he did.
The renowned man of God explained that the choice of Orile-Igbon where the camp site of the Church is sited was divine and it was after the divine directive that the site was named Galilee.
He commended Olugbon for his support and cooperation and promised that the Church would not relent in praying for the country, noting that the efficacy of prayers in the affairs of the country could not be glossed over. “But for intercessory prayers, the situation could have been worse”, the old Clergyman added.
