The National Orientation Agency(NOA) Ondo State in collaboration with Leadership and members of National Association of Nigeria Student (NANS) Ondo Axis on Thursday 17th November organized A Road walk Campaign Against Violence, Rape, banditry, kidnapping, Drug abuse, cultism, Prostitution and Exam malpractices in commemoration of this year International Students Day.
The road show was part of the activities slated to celebrate this year International Student Day featured Students from various tertiary institution in the state, students from selected Public secondary and pupils of Primary school, the Management and staff of Ondo NOA. Officers and men of NDLEA, Men of Nigeria Police Force and other Security operatives in the State.
The state director of NOA, Mrs Adelayo Adefolalu while addressing people at the popular Oja Oba in Akure sensitized the people on the dangers inherent in Social vices and urged parents and market women to ensure their children are not involved in drug abuse, prostitution, hooligalism, cultism and examination malpractices which she described as the bane of development rocking our society.
She stressed that the campaign was on building a people of peace / peaceful coexistence. Living in harmony with one another as Nigerians,regardless of tribe/religious affiliation and be our brothers keeper.
She also admonished youths to imbibe the spirit of patriotism.
Mrs Adefolalu further sensitized the people on Voter Education and appealed to them to ensure they exercise their franchise in the coming general election and shun all electoral malpractices.
The NOA director advised the public to desist from vote buying or selling and vote for the candidates of their choice urging parents not to allow their children to be used as political thugs during the forth coming 2023 General elections.
Earlier, the Chairman of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) Ondo Axis, Comrade Surprise Omotoso called on the student bodies to Shun all social vices that can jeopardize their future.
He noted that Politicians always recruit students as thugs during election and advised students not to allow any Politician to use them as political thugs.
Mr Omotoso urged security operatives not to infringe on fundamental human rights of Nigerians and thanked those who participated in the road walk.
The Road walk which kicked off at Adegbemile Cultural center enroute Oba Adesida road to Arakale Road ended at Pa Rueben Fashoranti Park Alagbaka, Akure
