There was confusion early this morning at major inter state parks in osogbo, especially around Olaiya and old garage areas as sporadic gunshots rented the air from area boys suspected to be members of transport unions.
Reports say some rival members of commercial drivers’ union were making efforts to take over control of some motor parks in the city
Residents ,most of whom were caught unaware by the early morning gun shots were seen scampering to safety to avoid being hit by stray bullets.
Commuters wishing to travel out of osogbo were seen stranded due to scarcity of buses while the few available ones used the opportunity to increase their fare
However, normalcy had returned to the areas as at the time of this report due to presence of men of the Nigeria police force.
Meanwhile ,Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has warned against violence among commercial drivers’ unions in the State calling on security agencies to maintain law and order.
In a statement by Governor’s spokesperson, the Governnor directs security agencies to maintain status quo across motor parks.
Governnor Adeleke urges the driver unions’ leaders and their supporters to remain calm and bring any grievances to the State Government for resolution.
