Delta state commissioner for information Mr Charles Aniagwu who also doubles as the chairman Local organising committee of the 2022 national sports festival tagged Asaba 2022 has again charged participants to see sports as a minor unifier.
Mr Aniagwu stated this while briefing journalists at the media centre of the ongoing 21st edition of the national sports festival in Asaba Delta state.
The commissioner who could not hide his joy with the number of states and athletes taking part in the biennial sports event said tribes and languages may differ but sports have all it takes to further unite the nation, breaking it out from its numerous challenges.
He said so far twenty five sports have been concluded with over twelve thousand coaches and athletes fully taking part in this edition.
Mr Aniagwu also assured contingents that the local organising committee is ready to meet every challenges such as logistics and accommodation faced by athletes.
In terms of the maintenance of the Stephen Keshi stadium and other facilities, Mr Aniagwu said the state would not abandon or render the facilities useless but ensure constant use of the stadium with different sporting event such as the secondary and primary school competitions which he said has helped them to discover raw talents.
The commissioner assured sportsmen and women especially Delta state contingent that the state government would not disappoint them in terms of renumeration and reward .
Meanwhile, Ondo State have so far amassed six medals as at the time of filling in this report.
Five of the medals are from para table tennis while one of the bronze medal was won by a para weightlifter, Tolu Ogundolire.
