History was made in Nigeria as joyous athletes, spectators and other key stakeholders in the sports industry witnessed the demonstration of netball at the ongoing 21st national sports festival in Asaba Delta state.
Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players.
Speaking with Positive FM, the General Secretary, Nigeria Netball Federation, Dr Esther Aluko said the association would soon embark on training tour of the country to sensitise coaches and schools sports masters to further popularise the game.
Dr Aluko noted that Nigeria has a lot to benefit from the game more so that netball is now an Olympic sports.
Minister of sports, Mr Sunday Dare was among other top directors of sports who graced the historic demonstrative game.
A short but captivating demonstrative game was played to the admiration of fans between two teams ceremoniously named Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Mr Sunday Dare’s team.
Team Okowa however defeated team Dare by 11-7 points.
