The Olowo of Owo and Paramount Ruler of Owo Land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, has lauded the decision of the Ondo State Government under the able leadership of the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN,CON, to upgrade the State-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, to a University to be named, University of Management Sciences and Technology.
Oba Ogunoye disclosed that, he received the news and by extension the people of the kingdom, with great enthusiasm, describing the announcement as a welcome development and a cherished gift of the season from the State Government to the kingdom.
The Monarch said that, though, he had personally appreciated the Governor through telephone call, disclosed that, he would still on behalf of the people of the kingdom be grateful publicly because, it is remarkable to note that, the 44 years old Institution, was established during the reign of his Late father, Oba Adekola Ogunoye II, while the upgrading is taking place during his own reign, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III.
While urging the constituted 7-Man Committee, charged with the responsibility of overseeing the commencement of the University, which he described as great men and woman with impeccable character, to immediately swing into action so as to see the take-off, in no distant time.
