Nigerians have been admonished that as they clean their houses and prepare for the Christmas, they should not forget to clean their souls because that is where the savior, Jesus Christ dwells.

The Chairman Ondo State Christian Association of Nigeria, Very Rev’d Fr. Anselm Ologunwa gave the charge in his Christmas and New Year message in Akure.

According to him, Christ is not interested in how one looks or what you eat or places you visit during the celebration, but the best gift one can give him is a clean heart.

He said Nigerians have lamented enough about the economic, social and political situations in our country and should now join our hands together to work for the common good by pervading our society with christian values such as love, peace, solidarity, self-sacrifice and justice which Christmas is all about.

A statement by the Director of information and communications of the Association, Brother Daisi Ajayi said Fr. Ologunwa advised Christians to celebrate moderately, act responsibly and also refrain from acts that can bring shame to their personality, government and the nation as a whole.

Fr Ologunwa who described 2023 as an election and political transition year, tasked all eligible voters to see general elections as an opportunity to liberate the nation from the shackles of misrule as they go out to cast their votes for the candidates with competence, capacity and integrity to rule.

The chairman urged christians and Nigerians to make the best use of the festive period to pray for the total eradication of insecurity, for unity and development of Nigeria.

Fr Ologunwa also used the occasion to acknowledge the support and cooperation of religious leaders in the state towards the enhancement of the Christian community.

The chairman wishes the Christians and Nigerians a happy Christmas, peaceful and a prosperous New year.
