First Lady, Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has advised expectant mothers to ensure proper antenatal care, engage in six months exclusive breastfeeding and strictly observe immunization programs to ensure adequate care for their babies.

She stated this in Abuja while welcoming the First Baby of year 2023, a baby boy named, Chimemla Testimony Uchenna at the Kubwa General Hospital.

The First Lady who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on women affairs and administration, Hajiya Rukayat Gunri also urged mothers to ensure then Registration of their babies by National Population Commission to enable government plan for their welfare.

The minister of women affairs Mrs. Dame Pauline Taline represented by the director child development, Mr. Ali Madugu explained that the tradition of rewarding the baby of the year had been sustained since 2012 and pledged the commitment ministry to monitor their growth and development.

The Medical Director, Kubwa General Hospital Mr. Lasisi Muhideen noted that the hospital remained an affordable point for  women and children in the provision of  a healthcare needs  of residents of the Fct.

The mother of the baby, Mrs. Amarachi Uchenna was filled with joy appreciated the wife of the president for the gifts promised the judicious use of the donated materials  for the welfare of the baby.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of gift item to children born on January 1st from 2012 till date and the presentation of gift item to other mothers in the maternity ward of the kubwa general hospital.
