Political parties and their candidates in Idanreland are to sign a peace accord next week Monday , January 16th , 2023.
This is coming on the heels of politicalv violence recorded in the town in recent time.
The Chairman of Idanre council area ,Prince Kayode Aroloye announced this at a meeting with political leaders and candidates from Idanre.
Prince Aroloyes said the community could no longer condone the rising menace of thuggery and destruction of property orchestrated by parties’ supporters.
The Chairman told the political leaders to hands off intervening for arrested suspects and allow the law to take its course to serve as deterrence to others.
In another development, the Owa of Idanre , Oba Frederick Aroloye has threatened to invoke curses on sponsors and perpetrators of political violence in Idanre.
The monarch who spoke at a meeting with top politicians in Idanre expressed sadness that hoodlums were turning Idanre to their battle ground
Oba Aroloye charged the police to arrest those found with dangerous weapons and intimidating the people.
He however sued for peace appealing to concerned parties to withdraw previous cases with the police to facilitate reconciliation .
Ahead of the 2023 election , Idanre had recently been embroiled in political violence as parties’ supporters engaged themselves with reports of alleged attempted assassination on some personalities.
Notable Idanre politicians present at the meeting were , Ondo State APC Chairman,Hon. Engr. Ade Adetimehin , Hon. Alhaji Tajudeen Adeyemi Adefisoye alias, “Small Alhaji”, Hon. Festus Olarewaju Akingbaso Fessywest alias, “Obete”, Dr. Tayo Dairo’, former Chief of Staff to Governor Rahman Mimiko, Dr Kola Ademujimi Hon. Princess Tosin Ajirotutu Ogunlowo, Hon. Akinnayajo Marcus, Hon. Wale Gbolagun, Hon. Aderemi Oyewole , Hon. Victor Ojo Alalabiaye, the Osolo elect of Idanre Kingdom, Chief Basorun Akinloye Akinmboni, the Ojomu elect of Idanre Kingdom and Hon. Taye Sunday, former Chairman of Idanre Local Government Area .
