Fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at a popular filling station, along Ondo road in Akure, Ondo state capital.
One of the pumps at the station and a motorcycle were badly burnt by the fire.
A Toyota vehicle was also affected but was salvaged with the help of fire extinguisher.
Some eyewitnesses told Radio Nigeria that the fire occurred following a spark from the pump while an attendant was selling fuel for the owner of the burnt okada.
They said the fire was however put out with the help of fire extinguisher.
The owner of the vehicle saved from the inferno, Alhaji Yakubu Adeniyi said the situation could have been worse if not for the timely intervention of the management of the filling station as there was a long queue.
He appealed to government at all levels to urgently put an end to the fuel scarcity in the country.
The filing station was thereafter deserted as motorists who were yet to get fuel left in disappointment.
Efforts to speak with the manager of the station were unsuccessful as he was said to be in a meeting with the staff.
