Fifty students of the school of physical sciences, federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA has bagged special awards from an alumnus of the institution, Dr Gbenga Owolabi
Dr Owolabi who graduated as one of the best Students from the department of Physics , FUTA in 2001 also presented a borehole to the school.
He explained that the gesture was his own little effort of giving back to his almamater and to encourage the students.
The award attracted ₦50,000 each for final year students while the 200 to 400 levels students got ₦20,000 each.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Bello Akinola from the department of mathematical sciences appreciated Dr Owolabi with a pledge to be more studious.
Also , guests on the occasion professor , Joseph Ojo and the Dean, professor Ademola Ayesanmi applauded the donor saying the borehole would address acute shortage of water in the axis of the institution.
In a remark , FUTA Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji challenged the university’s students not to only pass through the institution but to also remember the Institution as exemplified by Dr Gbenga Owolabi###
