1. In a bid to quash tension occasioned by political violence and ensure a peaceful 2023 Election , critical stakeholders in idanre political space have signed Peace Accord.

The Peace Accord initiated by the Chairman of Idanre Local Government Area, Prince Kayode Aroloye took place at the palace of Owa of Idanre , Oba Frederick Aroloye.

Speaking at the event , oba Aroloye described the Peace Accord as historic in Idanre and called on all the political parties to abide by it .

In a remark , Prince Kayode Aroloye accused party followers for creating problems with their excessive overzealousness and insatiable demands for money from candidates.

He said this was projecting idanre in bad light and needed to be addressed

At the ceremony , the Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Clement Akinola was commended for rising up to check the activities of hoodlums and bringing the situation under control.

Those who signed the Peace Accord were candidates for the House of Representatives , House of Assembly , Chairmen and Secretaries of political parties including serving lawmakers Tajudeen Adefisoye, Mr Festus Akingbaso, Oyewole Aderemi, and Princess Tosin Ogunlowo.

Others are APC chairman in Idanre Olumide Adewalure, PDP chairman , Adekunle Akinlalu and some other prominent politicians , Taye Sunday, Akinnayajo Marcus, Akinfala Olawale, Ralph Adetimehin, security agencies representatives and some traditional Chiefs.

Highlights of the event was the brotherly embrace between the candidates of the two parties , Festus Akingbaso Fessywest and Tajudeen Adefisoye popularly known as “Small Alhaji”

Idanre had been a flashpoint of political violence of late as supporters of the two major political parties in the town , APC and PDP attacked themselves disrupting the peace of the ancient town.
