In a bid to make women in his constituency self reliant, the lawmaker representing Ondo West Constituency One, Mr Tomide Akinribido has presented equipment and start-up kits to some beneficiaries of his annual skill acquisition programme for Ladies, tagged Girls Empowerment Training Skills, GETS INITIATIVE.

The epoch-making event held was held on Thursday 26th of January,2023 at the Akiavic Hall, Ondo City, Ondo state.

Performing the ceremony in company of his wife, Mrs Omowunmi Akinribido, the lawmaker restated his commitment to human capacity development hence the numerous social interventions he had sponsored since he was elected to represent his people.

Mr Akinribido promised to use self empowerment programmes to reduce poverty among the people while also calling on government at all levels to invest largely in equipping the youths with beneficial skills.

 

He emphasized the importance of skills acquisition as an antidote to unemployment and crime reduction amongst the youths of the country.

On her part ,the CEO of Jewel Fashion House,Mrs Folasade Osungbemiro who spoke on the vision that led to the GIRLS EMPOWERMENT TRAINING SKILLS(GETS) initiative charged beneficiaries of the empowerment programme to strive and earn a living through the equipment presented to them.

The Beneficiaries were selected from different occupations ranging from Fashion designing, Hair dressing, Make-up artistry to production of confectionaries.

 

They got certificate of completion, and new tools such as sewing machines, hair dressing kits and dryers, Make-up boxes among others.

Dignitaries Present at the event included former governor Olusegun Mimiko, former Ondo state PDP Chairman Hon. Ebenezer Alabi, Vice Chairman of Ondo West PDP, Hon. Rufus Adeyemi Ojikutu, former member of the Ondo state House of Assembly Hon Afolabi Akinsiku, Ondo central PDP Senatorial candidate Bashorun Ifedayo Adedapo (SAN),and Ondo East/West PDP House of Representatives candidate Dr. Felix Kehinde

Also present were youth leaders across Ondo Kingdom which included; Mr Folajogun Kayode- OEYC President and Mr. Famakinwa Lucas-EYC President
