The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has assured Nigerians that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BIVAS machines to be used for the conduct of the forthcoming elections will work effectively during the polls.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti State, Professor Ayobami Salami gave the assurance while monitoring mock accreditation of voters in some selected polling units in Ekiti state.
At some of the polling units visited including Ward ten, unit fifteen, Basiri and Ward nine unit seventeen, Okesa, Ado-Ekiti, Professor Salami said the Commission had configured the machines to work without hitches during the elections.
He explained that the mock accreditation was to test the efficiency of the BIVAS machines in readiness for the elections
The Resident Electoral Commissioner rekindled the hope of Electorates that their votes would count, urging them to take active part in the elections by performing their civic responsibility.
Speaking with newsmen, some of the Electorates who participated in the mock accreditation, including Chief Adeola Fakorede expressed happiness over the efficiency of the machines, calling on INEC to sustain it.
