The extension of maternity leave from three to six months for female public servants in Ondo State has been hailed as a big relief to pregnant ,nursing mothers and the babies.

A philanthropist and the initiator of annual babies award in Akoko northwest local government area of ondo state , Alhaji Ibrahim kilani said the extension would afford mothers enough time for exclusive breastfeeding.

Speaking at the 30th edition of the programme at Afin Akoko Basic health centre where babies, mothers and staff of health centre were given gift items and cash, the donor encouraged nursing mothers to imbibe exclusive breastfeeding to increase the babies immunity.

The officer in charge of the basic health centre , Mrs Dupe olowoyeye urged residents to always patronize government hospitals with qualified medical and health workers.
The coordinator , primary health in Akoko northwest , Dr Barnabas Aliu who represented the permanent secretary , Primary Healthcare Development Agency , Dr Francis Akanbiemu, cautioned people against aiding the spread of Lassa fever and advocated personal hygiene to keep away some Diseases.
Dr Akanbiemu commended the donor , Alhaji kilani for his selfless service to humanity.
