President Muhammadu Buhari, has returned to Abuja after a three-day official outing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


President Buhari, who left the country last Thursday, participated in a number of events during the three-day outing, including high-level meetings on peace and security, climate change, and the political situation in some West African countries.


Besides the AU Summit, tagged Acceleration of the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA, Implementation, the President also took part in an extraordinary summit of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWA), which held on the sidelines of the main event.


The President also took part in the second Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Sahel Region Climate Commission, SRCC, where Nigeria was picked to host Secretariat of the Sahel Climate Fund.


In some of the meetings of the 36th AU Summit, President Buhari presented Nigeria’s positions on critical continental issues, during which he urged member-states of the union to ratify the, AfCFTA, agreement on the economic development of the continent, while calling on them to strengthen early warning systems to rein in conflicts.
