Ondo State Government has commiserated with victims of fire incident that occured due to a petrol-laden tanker that fell off the truck and exploded in Opa Community in Idanre local government area.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu during a visit to the scene of the incident condoled the victims of the disaster.
Governor Akeredolu represented by his Deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said the State Emergency Management Agency would take stock of damages and loss to provide succour for victims.
The governor, who thanked God that no life was lost, appreciated men of the fire service, who rose to the occasion to help reduce the effect of the disaster.
He noted that his government was always conscious of giving approval for siting of filling stations in the state, especially in residential areas, but noted that the filling station had been there and not a new one.
One of the victims, Mrs Dorcas Muhammed, whose house was burnt appealed to government for assistance.
Muhammed said that all the occupants of the house escaped through the backdoor could not pick anything as they only had the clothes that was on them since Saturday.
Also, Mrs Akinbode Akinwalere, who spoke on behalf of those that their shops were burnt said that all their market was burnt as they had to quickly escape to save themselves and their children.
The Chairman of Idanre local government , Prince Kayode Aroloye,who said he was at the scene on Saturday appreciated the state government for it proactiveness.
