Over one hundred pupils of St David Anglican primary school, Ijomu Akure, the Ondo state capital may not be able to learn on Monday as rainstorm has destroyed nine classes of the school.

The rainstorm which occurred around 6 o’clock in the evening on Saturday removed the roofs of the affected classes and other facilities in the school and took it to the main oke-Ijebu road, leading to serious gridlock that lasted for hours.

The rainstorm also tore branches of trees in the school and destroyed the school’s playing ground items.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, Headteacher of the school, Princess Feyisola Otetubi expressed shock over the incident, describing it as unfortunate.

Mrs Otetubi however called on the ondo state government to urgently come to the rescue of the school as there was no alternative place to keep the pupils for learning due to the damage caused by the rainstorm.

Also speaking, the chairman PTA in Akure South local government, Mr Kole Ibitoye who thanked God that the rainstorm did not strike during school hours, called on the state government to embark on full renovation of the school as there was little the parents could do to rescue the situation.
