Oyo state police Command has declared the action by the youths under the guise of “Yoruba Nation Agitators” as criminal, unpatriotic and a clear case of terrorism which would be meted with adequate sanctions under the laws of the land.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, APPRO, Oyo State Command, Mr Adewale Osifeso, Operatives of the Command while on patrols intercepted a distress call about some members of a group driven by a separatist agenda who had forcefully hijacked a Radio Nigeria Broadcast Station, Amuludun 99.1 FM, Moniya, Ibadan with the intent to declare liberation of Yoruba Nation from the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a preliminary investigation, Mr. Osifeso noted that the five suspects caught in the act, were four males and one female, namely Noah Atoyebi 30yrs, Gbenga Adeleke 25yrs, Abdulganiyu Mustafa Kolawole 35yrs, and Fajola Elija 45yrs, while Bashiru Kehinde was the only female among the suspects, .
He said an investigation team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department had been commissioned to demystify circumstances around the incident and as well expand the network of arrests thorough painstaking intelligence driven investigation.
The PPRO, enjoined residents to be generous with useful information regarding the group and cooporate with the Command in a bid to rid the State off Criminal elements with the intent of propagating their separatist agenda.
Mr. Osifeso, urged Parents, guardians and leaders to prevail on their Children,wards and proteges against being used to distrupt the peace of the state saying, defaulters and other unpatriotic elements sharing the same sinister motives would be dealt with.
