Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been sworn in as the 16th President of Nigeria.
Tinubu took the oath of office alongside his vice, Kashim Shettima, supported by their spouses.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola admistered the oath of office on the president and his vice.
Former President Muhammad Buhari thereafter handed over the new colours of the Nigeria defence flag to President Tinubu.
Shortly after this, President Tinubu took the first salute and inspected the guards of honour mounted by the combined teams of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian police as he received cheers from well wishers present to witness the occasion.
It was a moment full of emotions as the former president, Muhammadu Buhari departed the venue of the inauguration amid cheers from Nigerians.
