The Nigeria Labour Congess, NLC, has declared a nationwide strike from Wednesday 7th, June 2023
The union announced the industrial action yesterday following a meeting of its National Executive Council in Abuja over the fuel subsidy removal and subsequent hike in the pump price of petrol.
NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero while addressing journalists after the meeting said the federal government, particularly the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL had up till Wednesday next week to revert to the old price of petrol as the development would further bring hardship on Nigerians.
Comrade Ajaero added that failure of the Federal Government to meet the ultimatum would attract an indefinite protest across the country.
The NNPCL had on Wednesday announced new pump prices of petrol nationwide ranging between four hundred and eighty eight naira and five hundred and fifty seven naira.
