The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, the Most Reverend Jude Arogundade alongside other Bishops from the southwest states have dedicated a memorial park in honour of victims that died during the gruesome attack on St Francis catholic church Owaluwa Owo on June 5, 2022.

Also, Fifty one children of survivors have been awarded scholarship to university level.

At the Mass in memory of the victims of pentecost Sunday massacre held at St Francis catholic church Owaluwa Owo, the bishop of Catholic diocese of ondo, the Most Reverend Jude Arogundade said the church would always render support where necessary to the families affected by the attack.

In his Homily, The bishop said the mixed feelings by parishioners signified a clear statement of strength, character and resilience in Christ Jesus to honour the 41 deceased members and also the 85 survivors as the attack caused a lifetime injury to them.

The Most Reverend Arogundade noted that the gathering was not intended to reignite their anger but an opportunity to show to the world how the victims have healed in Christ.

The bishop called on government to wake up to its responsibility, hold accountable the perpetrators of the dastardly act and look inward for the emancipation of Nigeria.


In his word of admonition the deputy Lucky Aiyedatiwa who led the ondo state Exco to Owo commiserated with the families affected saying the culprits have been arrested and investigation have gone very far.

Some women who lost their husbands Mrs folayemi Margaret ,Rita monagbe and Jumoke Veronica said life had not been the same ever since the incident occurred over one year ago.

The memorial park consists of spaces labelled with the names of the slain parishioners.
