The battle to reclaim some motor parks by the ondo state chapter of the National union of road transport workers in ondo state took another dimension on Monday with an alleged attack on a lawyer to the union, Mr Adewumi Babalola.
A human rights organisation, the Active Success and Empowerment Initiative (ASEI) in Ondo State alleged that Mr Babalola was attacked by members of the State Park Management System in collaboration with officials of the State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun.
In a statement, ASEI condenms the alleged attack which it claims occurred at Ado-Ekiti Motor Park along Igoba, Akure.
“According to the ASEI’s statement, “The National President of Active Success and Empowerment Initiative (ASEI), Adewumi Babalola, was assaulted and beaten by the officers of Ondo State Security Network Agency in collaboration with Motor Park Management Committee thugs while trying to board a vehicle to Ado-Ekiti to meet one of the Lawyers of his office when he was assaulted on sight.”
ASEI notes that the services being rendered in Ondo State and Nigeria by the organisation cannot be underrated in view of the need to protect human rights.
