Youths in Ondo community of Ondo State on Monday sealed the headquarters of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) in the town over poor electricity supply.
The Youths were also protesting the neglect of streets where cables and poles were destroyed by rainstorm since May, refusal of BEDC to energize transformers and outrageous billing.
The youths under the umbrella of Ondo Ekimogun Youths Congress (OEYC) which is the umbrella body for all youths in the community stormed the company’s headquarters located along Brigadier Ademulegun road, Ondo as early as 7:00 am on Monday to show their gravances.
The Youths were led by the youth president of Ondo town, Engr Kayode Folajogun ensured the closure of the headquarters.
Personnel of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies were at the scene of the protest to forestall breakdown of law and order.
