Edo State House of Assembly has called on the state government and other relevant security agencies to as a matter of urgency stop the senseless killings in the state and bring the culprits to book.
The call came under matters of urgent public importance co-sponsored by the member representing Oredo East in the Assembly, Mr Frank Omosigho and five others.
The lawmaker while decrying the senseless killings by suspected cultists, urged the state government to investigate the cause of the killings with a view to putting an end to it and ensuring the safety of residents of the state.
While recalling how a young man was killed last Sunday in his church, and another man brutally murdered the next day, he called for urgent steps to be taken to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
The house also called on DSS to be more proactive in information gathering to nib security challenges in the bud before they would escalate.
After adoption of the resolution, the speaker of the House, Mr Blessing Agbebaku directed that copies of the resolution be given to relevant authorities for necessary action.
