The Chairman, Cocoa and Plantain Farmers Association of Nigeria, CPFAN , Ondo State, Chief Ayodele Ojo has appealed to the federal government to ensure that subsidy removal palliatives meant for farmers get to the right farmer groups and not politicians.

 

Chief Ojo made the appeal while featuring on Radio Nigeria Positive FM Akure program “Gbeyewo”

 

He claimed that overtimes, loans and supports meant for farmers were often diverted while Farmers were left to their fate.

 

Chief Ojo insisted that the government should no longer go through politicians to reach out to farmers but meet directly with farmers association which could identify their members.

 

He urged the Tinubu administration to subsidize Agriculture heavily to boost food security and foreign earnings through produce exports.

 

Chief Ojo explained that the Cocoa and Plantain Farmers Association of Nigeria , CPFAN had invested in the growth of the produce through various assistance to members including soft loans , helping them export their harvests abroad and others.

 

He disclosed that one of the projects the association was involved in was the ongoing construction of Cocoa and Plantain processing factory in Ilara Mokin , Ondo State expected to add value to efforts of farmers and also create employment opportunities.
