The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC says it will ensure credible and acceptable local government election next year.
To this end, the Commission has organised workshop for its principal electoral officers and supporting staff ahead of the conduct of the election slated for February, 2024.
ODIEC Chairman, Dr. Joseph Aremo who gave the assurance while declaring open the workshop in Akure, expressed optimism that the commission would not disappoint the electorate in the conduct of the council poll..
Dr Aremo emphasized that the election would be one man, one vote, with the desire to set a benchmark for electoral activities in the Country.
In a lecture, Professor Olubayo Oluduro of the faculty of Law, Elizade University, Ikaram mokin, Ondo state who took the trainees on ELECTION ACT 2023: key changes and impacts on the conduct local government election Nigeria, highlighted ways through which a credible election could be achieved.
Also, a lecturer in the Faculty of Agriculture, Adekunle ajasin university, Akunba Akoko, Prof.Alaba Gbadamosi while speaking on Leadership and conflict management skills, enjoined the officers to exhibit leadership qualities that would make the electorate have confidence in the system.
The workshop which brought Electoral Officers from the 18 local government areas together was aimed at educating personnel in view of the forthcoming local government election.
