Ondo State government says it will massively invest in the growth of the newly introduced American football in the state.

Ondo State commissioner for youth and sports developmental Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa stated this while speaking with journalists during the third place match of the ongoing season two of the American football Association tournament tagged AKETI BOWL at the Akure sports complex.

Mr Ologunloluwa who applauded the support of the executives of the Nigeria American football Association and other major stakeholders assured readiness of the state government in procuring new equipments, appointment of coaches and other technical crew to train interested youths.

 

The Commissioner specially appreciated the state Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the President of the Nigerian American Football Associates (NAFA), Mr Babajide Akeredolu, for their
supports and creating the platform for the talented young athletes to showcase their skills.

He also applauded the support of the executives of the NAFA and other major stakeholders assured readiness of the state government in procuring new equipments, appointment of coaches and other technical crew to train interested youths.

Also speaking,the secretary American football association (NAFA) Mr Laurence Ojaideh said the season two hosted by Ondo State has achieved success with seven states participating in the tournament.

 

On his part the general manager Ondo State sports Council Mr Henry Babatunde expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the participating states and especially Ondo State team who are taking part in the game for the first time.

Mr Babatunde said the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited was phenomenal and promised to do everything to sustain the game among the youths in Ondo state

The states included FCT Abuja,Lagos,Ogun,Akwa Ibom,Osun and host Ondo State.

Meanwhile Ogun male team narrowly defeated team Ondo by 7-6 points to emerged winners of the third place match.

In the final schedule for Saturday 5th August 2023 Akwa Ibom will confront the team from FCT Abuja in the male category while Lagos will tackle Ogun state in the female category at the Ondo state sports complex.
