Ondo state Acting Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa has applauded the wife of the Ondo State governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu for championing the cause to change gender narratives in the world.
Mr Aiyedatiwa gave the commendation while declaring open the 2023 edition of Bemore Summer Boot camp in Akure.
He described BEMORE initiative which started in 2017 as a programme that has been bridging gender gap, urging participants to utilize every skill learnt to better their lives and the society at large.
Addressing the participants virtually, Wife of Ondo state governor, Mrs Betty Anyawu -Akeredolu said the state had produced exceptional Information Technology professionals, solar energy gurus and promising entrepreneurs through BEMORE Initiative in six years of its existence.
She explained that BEMORE was birthed to empower the young Nigerian girls in critical areas of science and technology while also creating opportunities to help them improve on their lives and make meaningful contributions to socio- economic development in their respective communities.
Mrs Akeredolu urged the girls to see BEMORE as a rare opportunity to change their trajectory of life for good and also move ahead to become change agents within the two weeks of their training.
In a lecture entitled “Addressing Nutrition and Food Security in Nigeria- A Call to Action” a medical expert, Dr. Mbang Kooffreh-Ada, emphasized the need for people to eat right for good health.
She said: “Lack of access to nutritious food and essential nutrients leads to stunted growth, wasting and a weakened immune system.
In their goodwill messages, The State Commissioner of Local Government, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Commissioner for Sports, Mr Dele Ologun, OSOPADEC Secretary, Mr Victor Koledayo congratulated Mrs Akeredolu for birthing a project that would outlived her and urged the participants to be good ambassadors of BEMORE.
Some Parents shared testimonies of the initiative saying it had helped their children in all areas and appreciated the wife of the state governor for the good guesture.
