The remains of late Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Kayode Laro were on Wednesday buried according to Islamic rites at his Okesunna Family Compound, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The burial which took place amidst tears and prayers was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashir Soliu.
The body of the diplomat, flown in with an aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force and wrapped in the national colours as a mark of honour for his service to Nigeria, was received by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport Ilorin, supported by dignitaries and family members of the deceased.
The Governor had earlier in his condolence message described his death devastating and prayed Allah to forgive him and grant him al-jannah Firdaus.
Among the dignitaries who attended the burial rites were Nigerian Ambassador to Paris, Superintending Economic and Consular Affairs, Muazam Nayaya; Deputy Head of Mission, France, Ambassador Tunde Mukaila Mustapha, Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi Salihu and other principal officers including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s family led by his elder brother and Mutawalle Ilorin, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq.
Speaking shortly after the burial rites, Ambassador Tunde Mukaila described late Ambassador Kayode Laro as a complete gentleman and a diplomat par excellence.
He prayed Allah to grant the departed soul Aljannat Firdaus and console the family he left behind.
